How many times have you found yourself unable to communicate with your interlocutor, or even to make yourself understood, despite hours spent on Duolingo? It's frustrating...
Personally, this has happened to me more than often, mainly in Asian countries.
To avoid this kind of inconvenience, I had tried many times to find an efficient translator. But while Google and its translation services have improved over the years, they are still dependent on the Internet and its potential censorship, as well as on my phone's battery. To get around all these problems, I finally found the ultimate system, with unlimited battery life and virtually universal use: the G'Palemo.
Since my trip to China in 2016, I've never been without this book. Thanks to it, I was able to venture into Shanghai's less touristy neighborhoods and order food in a restaurant where it was impossible to get a waiter who spoke English, or a menu in English.
Breaking the ice with Korean policemen in Seoul, or even asking questions in Japan, all the while receiving a magnificent "Sugoiiiiiii" from the people I wanted to ask.
And even in Europe, in Poland, in Łódź, in a Georgian restaurant.
This booklet contains neither words nor ideograms, but offers a set of images for several different situations in everyday life and for any tourist. Thanks to this, you won't speak like Shakespeare or Molière, but you'll make yourself understood by anyone with the ability to see and interpret images.
As you can see, mine has already paid for itself (and worn out). And everyone in my family now has one.
It's also an alternative for anyone who has had a health problem that limits their ability to communicate with others. So there are alternatives to its use.
And I'll keep recommending this book to everyone.
